A 20-year-old man from Eritrea found dead in Dresden, Germany

A 20-year-old man from Eritrea has been found dead in the front yard of his home in Dresden, Germany on Tuesday morning.

Police officials say they are not suspecting foul play was involved in the death of the Eritrean.

The authorities did not release the man’s name, but said that he was an asylum seeker in Germany.

The Eritrean was found dead amid 25,000 people demonstrating in an anti-Islamisation rally in Dresden the night before.

The city has become a symbol of a new German anti-islamist and anti-immigrant grassroots movement called PEGIDA in recent months.

Especially, in eastern Germany, which was part of the former German Democratic Republic (DDR), the movement is strong, although, foreigners make only 2.5% of the population.

The body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, while the case is under investigation by police.

The prosecutor for the German state of Saxony, Lorenz Haase, confirmed on Wednesday that recently deceased Khalid I. died of multiple stab wounds.

In their first statement, a police spokesperson had said that Khalid’s death could have been an accident.

But the victims’ friends and roommates have shared disturbing information on social media platforms, saying how the corpse of the Eritrean refugee was covered in blood with visible injuries.

A police spokesman declined to comment but prosecutors said 25 detectives had been assigned to investigate the case.

German media said he was last seen alive on Monday evening and one paper quoted a local leader in the Left party, Juliane Nagel, urging police to redouble their efforts to determine if racist violence was involved.

According to Germany’s Der Spiegel, a social worker supporting the 20-year-old refugee and his fellow countrymen reported that refugees are living in constant fear in Dresden.

He also said that people were regularly kicking the front door of the refugees’ flat and that someone spray-painted swastikas on the hallway.
